Vintage: Stolen Innocence - HAWMC Day 19

Post a vintage photo of yourself, with a captain about the photo and where you were in terms of your health condition.

I was 8 years old in this photograph, taken by my ballet instructor Mr. Reilly.  This was when I was diagnosed with having migraines.  Such innocence is pictured here.  I had no idea that this was going to suck my childhood dry and prevent me from enjoying the things that kids like to do.  All I knew then was that my head hurt a lot and nothing really helped take the pain away.  There were a lot of tears, vomiting and sadness then.  I feel so bad for her.  She didn't deserve to experience such severe and debilitating pain so young.  She couldn't understand it or why it was happening to her.  Now that she's an adult, she still hasn't figured that out yet.

  1. Look at what a beautiful little girl were!! Apparently, you've been a diva all your life! =) I'm so sorry that you were diagnosed at such a young age with the horrible migraines you get. My oldest daughter didn't start getting them until she reached puberty....and I got a firsthand look at what a person going through a migraine goes through. Then, after developing cervical DDD, I started getting them myself, and while I don't have chronic migraines, it gives me a much better understanding of what you deal with! You are such a strong, intelligent, compassionate, and beautiful woman, both inside and out. You're also a pretty great friend. Thank you for having the courage to share such a private part of your life so that others might feel not so alone.

    1. Thank you Jeanette! It was hard to deal with then. I wouldn't wish it on anybody. In a weird way I guess it prepared me for what I'm dealing with now.
