Learn More About Botox For Chronic Migraine

Migraine & Headache Awareness Has an Official Color!

Over the past year, I have been extremely interested in learning as much about my Migraine disease as possible so that I can educate others on how serious and debilitating this neurological disorder is.  I've perused all the organizations I could find and I came to realize that there wasn't a specific color to represent migraines and other headache disorders.  It bothered me that my illness wasn't deemed important enough to have an official color.  My illness, unfortunately, is an invisible one - unnoticeable to the naked eye.  It's also invisible in the health care industry. It would be nice to see a ribbon for my illness.  I wear a pink ribbon for breast cancer to honor my mother who is a two-time survivor of the disease.  I wear a red dress pin to bring awareness to heart disease and how it's the number one killer of women.  But, I don't have anything that represents my disease and the impact that it has on global society.

Our friend and advocate Teri Robert spoke with representatives from several nonprofit organizations that represent Migraine and headache awareness and it was decided that purple will be our official color.  Catherine Charrett-Dykes has an awareness campaign on Facebook for Chronic Migraine which has a purple ribbon with a red stripe.

So why purple?  Here are some interesting notes about purple:

  • Purple or violet stones are said to help heal insomnia and mental-related disorder.
  • Purple amethyst and charoite has physical healing properties including boosting hormone production, calms nervous system, insomnia, digestive tract, posture and skeletal system, and headaches.
  • Lilac lepidolite lifts depression, heals sore muscles and fatigue, tight muscles and nerves.
  • Purpurite heals brain function.
  • Sugilite is used by healers for dyslexia, pain relief, and motor disfunction.
This color selection has just been made official so there aren't any pins, ribbons or bracelets available as of yet.  However, they will most likely sell out quickly when they are.  A great idea would be to create pins, ribbons, or pieces of jewelry out of purple fabric and stones and have a fundraiser to raise money for your Migraine or headache awareness organization or nonprofit of choice.
